I grew up as a christian, though my understanding of christianity was warped.
When I was a teenager, I took the time to write out the 10 commandments given to moses on a journal of mine.
I thought if I was to get into heaven I had to follow those ten rules and many many more to the letter.
When ever I would leave to go some where by car, or even leave my house I would always pray and say God I am not sure what sin I did but please don’t let me die without repenting for that sin, because I don’t want to go hell.
I felt that the only time I was truly secure in my salvation was when I was living a good law obeying life.
Which was very rare and only lasted a brief period of time here and there.
It was not until I was 22 that I heard the proper message of grace, and decided to actually listen to it.
Before this, when someone mentioned grace, I would think that this is a hoax and that it is a cult within christianity.
But the more I learnt about what the Bible actually says, the more I realized grace is true, in fact grace is the message of the Gospel.
Grace is Jesus Christ.
After learning about grace it took me some time to adjust to the fact that I was in the palm of God’s hand and nothing could take me out.
John 10:28–29
"I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand."
Even when I first got married, my wife and I would get into debates about christian topics, only for us to eventually realize we are discussing topics with a totally different set of foundations, the thought of somehow I could end up in hell was something I still struggled with.
But now I believe that I am much stronger in my faith knowing I am safe in Christ.
This being said, the benefits of grace are so vast and abundant, that I am still struggling to grasp the revelation of it entirely, but that is changing day by day.
A good example of this is my struggle with understanding how we can work from a place of rest. I thought we work to get stuff, but by Grace we get things not by our work. And because Grace is given we now have the power to work. I know God is going to give me a revelation on this specific topic.
I am a strong advocate for reading for your career growth and personal development, though I realized that I also should spend time reading and learning matters that strengthen my walk with God. That is why I decided to start reading” Destined to Reign” by Joseph Prince, and I highly recommend you read it as well.
I am only two chapters in and it is blowing my mind how much Jesus actually did for us.
The key word is DID.
He is not doing stuff so we can win, he did it all.
He paid the ultimate price, so that we can live a fulfilled life, winning in our health, our finances, our relationships, and our careers.
I want to end with two short quotes from the book itself.
“The gospel of Jesus Christ leads to blessings, success, healing, restoration, protection, financial breakthroughs, security, peace, wholeness and MUCH MORE…..Today, let it be your prayer that you will stop trying to earn God’s grace and righteousness. Let the Holy Spirit teach you to start depending on Jesus' finished work and to start receiving by His grace. This is God’s effortless way to success, wholeness and victorious living”
